Optical proximity sensor
An optical proximity sensor consists of one sending LED, one photodiode and one compensation LED. In connection with a HALIOS®-ASIC (ELMOS Semiconductor AG) such a sensor is able to detect the proximity and/or movement of any objects.
The alignment of these three optoelectronic components in an appropriately formed housing has been realized by our strategic partner VISHAY Semiconductor GmbH in Heilbronn.
The sensitivity of such sensors can lie between a few centimeters and several meters depending on the choice of optical components.
The special advantage of this system is its insensitivity to ambient light conditions, ageing and temperature changes.
