Applications

In this section we would like to introduce you to several different application options the HALIOS^® principle opens. These are universal: from optical switch operations over various control functions to three-dimensional mouse operations.

In addition many further areas of applications are conceivable. Product control panels can be given form with great freedom of design, as no breakthroughs for mechanical operating controls are needed.

The optical components can be aligned on a PCB behind the control panel without needing a direct mechanical connection to the user surface. Furthermore the system is self-regulating (e.g. when the surface gets dirty or scratched). This guarantees its reliability even under extremely adverse conditions.

Thus this innovative technique simplifies production, is free of mechanical wear making it possible to build sensors and input devices of extremely small size. In consequence the use of industrially produced optical switches minimizes the costs for the user considerably.
